We exist to make a positive impact
Our Vision and Mission statements are brief but mean a whole lot! Our aim is to provide to the whole community a place to come together to sustain and enrich their lives and we mean it when we say no one in our community will feel isolated, alienated or unable to seek assistance. SCH may be small in size, a bit off the beaten track and as “un-fancy” as they come, but we always strive to “punch above our weight” by delivering many no and low-cost activities to our community, with we hope, something for everyone. We have varied volunteer opportunities and are always up for a cuppa and a…

Take what you need….donate what you can.
When Coronavirus hit and we had to close our doors, one of the ways we felt we could help our community was to start a Community Pantry. The idea was a simple one – have some non-perishable items in a pantry on the front porch of the House for anyone to use or donate to that could be accessed anytime. With restrictions meaning we couldn’t be present in person, we hoped that this would be another way for us to connect to and support our community. Now that we have come through our lockdown and restrictions are easing even more, we still have the pantry on the front porch. We…

There are many ways you can be involved with your Community House – attending classes, workshops and events, volunteering in a way and at a time that suits you, joining our Committee of Governance or by becoming a “Friend of Seville Community House”. Many of our community receive our program electronically after we decided several years ago to discontinue delivering hard copies into letterboxes, this decision was driven by both economics and a desire to do our bit to save the environment. You can sign up to receive our program this way, and also our monthly newsletter by signing up here Stay in touch and let us know if you…

We’re gathering our crew!
Seville Community now manages a local support crew and we’re looking for local residents willing to lend a hand to a neighbour who needs a little bit of assistance. This might be a meal or two, a garden tidy up or just a social visit.Professionals working with those in need (GP, aged care, maternal health, social worker) can refer clients to us through the Support Crew directory so one or more of our crew can lend their client a hand. The Referrer simply connects the client (with their consent) to the Support Crew via the Gather my Crew website.Anyone who wants to lend a hand in their community can join…

Goodbye 2020
And so, in a blink of an eye, 2020 is hurtling to a close and many of us will gladly wave her goodbye. Perhaps the lessons some of us have learned throughout this remarkable eon will help us be more grateful for the small things in life. We realise that people and planet are far more important than profit and that things such as watching a bee on a flower or cuddling your pet are the most precious of all. The Community House will close on Thursday the 17th of December and re-open on Monday the 1st of February. Our Term One program is almost ready to go and will…

We’re back baby!
It’s wonderful to finally have our doors open to our community once again. Although it isn’t business as usual we are running a modified program for the remainder of 2020. We need to heed strict COVID cleaning and tracing requirements – but we’re up to the task. Our planning is underway to kick 2021 off with a bang and have our “old favourites” back with us and also introduce some new ongoing programs and one-off activities. We look forward to seeing old friends and welcoming new friends in 2021 – if you haven’t checked us out yet why not pop in and say hello?

COVID Update
In light of Victoria’s falling COVID cases (0 new and 0 deaths today) we are eagerly awaiting updated information from the Premier about what can and can’t reopen. We are unlikely to return to normal service in the near future and we are looking at ways that we can run some of our program outdoors or at a larger local venue. Instead of our usual term 4 program we are adding one off workshops/presentations to our Facebook page, if you use Facebook please like and follow our page for the latest updates. We can’t wait to see you all again!

Our wonderful mosaic
Our Wonderful Healing Garden project has begun with a bang! With sincere thanks to Wandin/Seville Bendigo Bank and the RACV Healesville Country Club for enabling us to get our Community Mosaic finished, just before lockdown restrictions were imposed. This is just the beginning and we are looking forward to completing the construction stage of the project so we can start planting out and enjoying the full garden.
